Meet The Teacher
My name is Kara Lavoie. I have lived in Waterloo most of my life. I attended SPPS and then went to Gibault High School. I started college at the University of Illinois and finished at SIUE with a degree in Elementary Education. I later earned a master's degree in Elementary Education. In 2008 I earned my National Board Certification.
I started my teaching career at Immaculate Conception School in Columbia, Illinois. In 1993, I came to the Waterloo District and have been teaching here ever since. I have taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades through the years.
My husband Ron and I have two grown daughters, Brittany and Kaila, and one adorable granddaughter.
I have really enjoyed my years of teaching. I feel lucky to work in a great district with wonderful kids and teachers. I look forward to a great year!
